BAC 0 – Jaspers 6 (08/02/14)

Written by: Becky ‘the bullet’ Lewis

BAC were at home to Jaspers. It was the first game since the (hopefully temporary) departure of Bish :-(.

Eager to start this week all of BAC were on time and raring to go, only to be told by the church convention that we could not park in the car park! This upset a few BAC players, but we got on with it none the less.

BAC started well with some nice passing up the pitch and working together in triangles. Both teams had a promising start with end to end hockey for the first 15 minutes.

It was pretty much evenly matched until Jaspers broke down the left and worked their way into the D. They had a shot which was saved on the line by a nice dive from the keeper. A scramble quickly ensued for the rebound, and after beating it into the keeper on the floor, the ball finally got pushed underneath and found its way to the back of the net. 0 – 1

BAC restarted quickly, getting the ball back up into Jaspers end. Then possession was taken away from BAC and Jaspers quickly pushed up the pitch creating a short in the BAC D. The short was taken and blocked by the BAC defence. Jaspers had another short, and after another scramble, another goal to Jaspers. 0 – 2

After the re start, Jaspers came back strongly again breaking on the left. They passed from the baseline to an attacker on the P spot. Jaspers shot, but it was saved by the keeper, then their second shot went wide.

BAC 16, was hit out into the centre and picked up by BAC who quickly charged up the pitch and into the Jaspers D. Jaspers great defence intercepted the ball and again broke down the middle of the pitch and out to the right. Three on two, Jaspers have a shot from the top of the D which beats the keeper to the right hand corner, bringing the score to 0 – 3.

BAC came back hard, did not giving up, and continued to fight and got a short awarded in the Jaspers D. It was quickly taken, but the shot was saved by the keeper. Jaspers broke again from their 16 playing down the left from the corner to the P spot. Another shot, and another goal for Jaspers just before the half time whistle. 0 – 4

After a half time talking to by captain Lisa, BAC showed their spirit and fight charging out and creating a few chances in the Jaspers D despite the tropical storm which descended on the home pitch. But Jaspers weren’t having any of it, and continued to break having three of four shots in the BAC D which were saved by the keeper and cleared by the defence.

BAC keep fighting on, even though Jaspers had break after break and are awarded a few shorts.

BAC 16 hit out was picked up by Jaspers in the centre. After a scramble and shot from top of the D, another goal to Jaspers. 0 – 5

Close to the full time whistle, BAC kept their heads up and kept hanging on. But, Jaspers once again get the ball in the BAC D, had a high shot, which was batted over the line by a high Jaspers stick( narrowly missing Cheryl’s face!) Final Score 0 – 6!

Things cheered up at teas for BAC, because we has two birthday cakes to celebrate Ceri and captain Lisa’s birthdays.
