Wick2 v BAC2 (12/02/22)

Result: 1-2 Win

I think Dot’s arctic coat must have doubled up as a sleeping bag. Must have done a dummy run the night before to find the pitch and decided to camp out in the car. I cant think otherwise how she got to the pitch first and without getting lost #neverhappendbefore

Talking of miracles we had a sub this week too. Again tho the oppo still managed to have about 10 more players than us and some very excitable supporters. Anyway warm up done, tho still flipping cold and team talk completed. Although this was virtually a top v bottom match we know in this league that doesn’t count for much. We started strong and had a good amount of pressure but Wick didn’t give us any space and they were always chasing us down. Kat didn’t like the ball… not enough dimples apparently so ball swapped. With a good amount of consistent pressure in the final third I managed to direct a ball towards goal and Beth well positioned got it over the line. 0- 1 (15th minute I’ve been informed.)More pressure from the team led to a Wick player stopping the ball with her foot in front of goal… penalty awarded. I stepped up and beat the keeper but unfortunately not the upright post

🙄

With a tight score line Wick were still in the game and against play scored a goal (sorry I couldn’t really see as I was up the other end but I don’t think it was anything spectacular) 1 – 1 Wick – supporters went wild. Wick player broke the new match ball so that one was swapped too. We again had more possession and put pressure back on Wick. A well worked Dummy short corner out to Tapper saw Kat smash ball into the back of the net. (35th minute)2- 1 half time2nd half and we knew with Wick stifling our play we were going to have to work hard. I’m not sure how many short corners we had probably about 57. And apart from Kats disallowed goal (should have stood) the other 56 I think were hit straight at their keeper who tbf kicked them all back out at us

🙄

With the final whistle about to blow Wick got a short corner… thankfully resulted in like most of ours … nothing

😉

Glad to hear full time whistle and bag the 3 points. An odd game really should have scored so many more goals but their keeper kept Wick in the game right to the end. Not our best passing game but everyone put in a shift and Kat particularly was unlucky to not score more goals. Soph, Fran and I went back to teas

Big thanks to Gnome Lor for going in goal too.
