BAC 7 – North Wilts 4

Written By: Liz ‘I pass to who I want’ Gaze

Another rainy Saturday (or in the words of Maz, “the drizzle is very drizzly today”) saw BAC take on bottom of the table West Wilts (WW). BAC were without Brownie (who felt it was acceptable to book a skiing holiday and miss a league game) and Red (showing her youth recovering from having a troublesome wisdom tooth out). It was a shame that we were unusually without any supporters as it was a high scoring game with more goals than the rest of the league put together! The game started fairly evenly with both teams trying to work each other out but, before too long, BAC took the lead after Sledger burst through the middle and slipped the ball to Tinny who smashed it into the corner from the top of the D. Not long after WW broke back and the game was soon level again. This obviously frustrated BAC and from the restart Bish intercepted the ball in defence, made a perfect pass to Tinny who rounded the keeper, slipped the ball to the waiting Woller who tapped the ball into the open goal.

Both teams continued to battle but it was BAC who came out on top. A side-line ball from Sal to Bish was again expertly dispatched into the corner of the goal by Tinny. 3-1 BAC at half time.

The half time team talk focussed on the fact that we weren’t at our best and needed to work more as a team to ensure the 3 points. BAC were revved up and ready for the second half.

4-1 Tinny accepted the ball out wide and skilfully twisted and turned her way past most of the defence until she reached the top of the D and slotted the ball home for her hattrick.

5-1 A well worked short resulted in a great strike from Bish and once again the ball was in the back of the goal.

6-1 After a long run of BAC short corners a neat bit of passing play saw Kingers slip the ball through the keeper’s legs and into the goal.

7-1 Some debate over this one. Either Cheryl or Sledger (they can’t decide so I’ll mention them both) crossed the ball to Wooller who, in her starring role up front, flicked the ball in the goal for her second of the match.

Sounds amazing so far, BAC were on a role scoring and if the ball did break down the other end, the defence were holding strong. As for the last 10 minutes of the game, well let’s just say decision making was shocking (particularly by the writer of this piece who even passed a ball back directly to WW thinking it was a BAC player). Errors all over the pitch allowed WW to bring the score back to 7-4.

Let’s just celebrate the 7 goals, take the points and go to teas for some pulled pork rolls and rocky road!!
